Governor lauds soldiers’ courage and sacrifice, honours ‘veer naris’ | Patna News
Patna: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Wednesday inaugurated a grand ‘Veterans’ Day’ rally at the Bihar Regiment Centre (BRC) ground in Danapur Cantonment and paid heartfelt tributes to the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering service of soldiers and veterans of the Indian Armed Forces.The event, held at Kalinga Stadium, brought together around 2,000 veterans and Veer Naris, creating an atmosphere charged with patriotism and pride. Senior army officers, representatives of the Bihar state govt, and officials from the Danapur army area were also present on the occasion.Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, the Governor lauded the armed forces for sacrificing personal comforts and, in many cases, their lives for the protection of the nation. He said the country remains eternally grateful to its soldiers and veterans who have safeguarded the sovereignty and integrity of the nation under the most challenging circumstances.“Our soldiers rise above family, caste, and religion to stand as the strongest pillar of the nation’s security. Their courage, discipline, and sense of duty inspire generations and remind us of the true meaning of service to the motherland,” Khan said.As part of the function, four disabled soldiers were presented with modified electric scooters, while 20 Veer Naris were felicitated with a token amount of Rs21,000 each. General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Command, Lt Gen Anindya Sen Gupta, who presented medals to several war veterans, reiterated the role and importance of veterans in nation-building. Other senior officers present included Lt Gen P S Shekhawat, Maj Gen Vikas Bhardwaj, GOC Jharkhand & Bihar Sub Area, along with several high-ranking military officials.Earlier, rich tributes were paid at the war memorial where army officers laid wreaths to honour the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty, a BRC official said, adding that the rally concluded on a patriotic note with the BRC band playing the National Anthem.
