Ghaziabad neighbourhood matters – Vaishali roads encroached by cattle | Ghaziabad News
GHAZIABAD: The streets of Vaishali in the Vasundhara zone are facing a growing encroachment from cattle, which are often found roaming freely. This is causing major disruptions to traffic and posing safety risks to residents. Residents are raising an urgent alarm over the situation, attributing it to the absence of proper cow shelters under the current administration.Residents feel that the local administration has been neglectful in addressing this pressing issue. “We urge swift action to remove these cattle from public streets and provide them with a safe haven in the municipal corporation’s cowshed,” said Rakesh Singh, a resident of Vaishali. In a letter addressed to Dr Ashish Tripathi, veterinary doctor and welfare officer of the municipal corporation, Sunil Vaid, a resident of the area, detailed the challenges faced by them. He cited specific wards, including 72 and 76, where cattle have become a common sight. “The presence of these animals has led to significant traffic jams and has created a hazardous environment for pedestrians, especially children, the elderly, and women,” said Vaid in his letter. He further emphasised the dire conditions these cattle face, as many scavenge for food in garbage heaps and are at risk of ingesting harmful materials, including plastic. “Sometimes, these herds gather in large numbers on the roads, causing problems for traffic, as well as for residents, children, elderly people, and women walking on foot. The green belts and footpaths on most of the Vaishali roads have been encroached upon, and the administration remains unconcerned,” said Vaid.Highlighting a recent instance of the birth of a calf along the roads in September, residents emphasise the need for immediate intervention to safeguard both the animals and public welfare. While Vaid has sent a copy of his letter to state cabinet minister Sunil Sharma, also MLA of the Sahibabad region, Mayor Sunita Dayal, and the GMC commissioner, residents of the area hope for prompt action on the matter.“We hope that necessary action is taken to ensure the safety and order of both cattle and humans in the neighbourhoods,” said Vaid.A response from concerned officials is awaited on the matter.
