Four youths killed in Madhepura truck-car collision | Patna News
Madhepura: Four friends, aged between 25 and 30, were killed after their car collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction on NH-106 near a power grid office under Sadar police station area in Madhepura on Saturday morning. The youths, who were returning from JNKT Medical College, died on the spot as their vehicle was crushed under the truck. The impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled, and its occupants were trapped inside.Among the deceased, Sonu Kumar, son of Ashok Sah, and Sahil Kumar, son of Subodh Sah, were residents of ward numbers 20 and 13 of Madhepura town, respectively. The other two were identified as Sajan Kumar, son of Jaiprakash Yadav, a resident of Uda-Kishunganj, and Rupesh Kumar, son of Ramnaresh Das, a resident of Bharrahi in Madhepura.According to police, all four were returning from the hospital, where Sonu’s wife had given birth to a baby boy late Friday night. They stayed at the hospital after receiving the good news and left for home around 4.30am. As they reached near the power sub-station, their car collided with a truck. The impact was so severe that the bonnet of the car got lodged under the truck’s front chassis, crushing the vehicle.Hearing the sound of the crash, locals rushed to the spot and found all the victims trapped inside the mangled car. They immediately informed the police, who, with the help of locals, used a JCB crane to extract the bodies from the wreckage, and took the victims to the hospital. Doctors declared all of them brought dead. The truck driver fled the spot, abandoning the vehicle.“We have seized both vehicles and efforts are on to identify and arrest the truck driver,” said Madhepura SHO Bimlendu Kumar. Meanwhile, locals blamed the accident on rash and negligent driving.
