Footbridge work on, brace for traffic diversions on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway

GURGAON: For construction of a foot overbridge (FOB) at Narsingpur, traffic movement on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway will be disrupted for two days on March 26 and 27.
The traffic police have issued an advisory for route diversions. GMDA will carry out the work on these days from 12 noon to 6am.
Furing the construction of the footbridge, the movement of vehicles on the NH8 stretch in Narsingpur will be prohibited.
Drivers going from Delhi to Jaipur will turn left from Hero Honda Chowk, turn right from Subhash Chowk traffic signal, go right from Vatika Chowk signal and go straight ahead to use NH8 from SPR-Dwarka Road. Drivers going from Jaipur to Delhi will cross Kherki Daula toll plaza and take Dwarka Expressway from NH-8 .
Drivers coming from Jaipur will cross Kherki Daula toll plaza, use Dwarka Expressway from NH8, take a U-turn from Elan Chowk, go via SPR, turn left from Vatika Chowk signal and travel via Rajiv Chowk.
GMDA is set to install a 110-foot-long steel FOB. The steel structure is at the spot and it is expected to be installed in eight hours on both sides of the carriageway. The Rs 1.6-crore FOB will help residents conveniently cross the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway. The new FOB will be installed 300 metres away from the existing FOB.
Sunil Yadav, a resident of Narsingpur, said their village has a population of around 50,000.
The village is divided by the expressway in the ratio of 60 to 40. “People have to jump over the grill to cross the expressway in the absence of any FOB. The road crossing by pedestrians also leads to fatal accidents,” Yadav said.
The FOB will help locals cross the road and move from one part of the village to the other and it will also reduce accidents.
Surrounded by densely populated residential areas with several industrial units operating in the vicinity, the spot sees heavy footfall and locals have even broken the grilles of the central verge of the highway at some places in order to cross it.
Narsingpur has constantly remained a black spot on NH8 due to a large number of accidents.
