First tribal film festival concludes

Ranchi: 13 films were awarded at the first three-day Dharti Aaba Tribal Film Festival (DAFF) on its concluding day on Thursday. In the feature film section, first prize went to ‘Yeksik’s Daughter’, 2nd prize ‘Celestina & Lawrence’ won second prize and ‘Divorce’ got third prize. In the short film section, ‘Cross Road’ won first prize, ‘Puisa Dare’ won second prize, and ‘Papaya’ won third prize.While, in the long documentary section, ‘Bonded’ won first prize, ‘The Bird, the Priest’ won second prize, ‘16 Millet Thieves’ recognized for powerful social commentary and exploration of tribal economy.‘Rukhu Matir Dukhu Majhi’ (Son of the Barren Land) won first prize, ‘Jameen ma ka phool’ won second, ‘Man melody and dolls’ won third prize in the short documentary section. ‘Aleyya Hassan Aleya Haq’ that portrays a unique bond between humans and animals got jury’s special mention in the section.The festival that started on Tuesday screened 52 films from across the country focused on tribal life, identity and social change.
