Fire breaks out in ‘kalpvasi’ tent at Maha Kumbh, no casualties | Prayagraj News

NEW DELHI: A fire broke out in a ‘kalpvasi’ tent in Sector 19 of the Maha Kumbh on Sunday due to a gas cylinder leak, officials said.
Three fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the spot, managed to douse the flames within 10 minutes. Although the tent was completely destroyed, no injuries were reported.
According to Chief Fire Officer (Kumbh) Pramod Sharma stated that the tent, set up by Om Prakash Pandey Seva Sansthan, belonged to Rajendra Jaiswal, a resident of Karma, Prayagraj.
This is the latest in a series of fire incidents at the Maha Kumbh. On February 7, a fire erupted in the ISKCON camp in Sector 18, spreading to a dozen nearby tents. While no injuries were reported, around 20 tents were gutted.
Earlier, on January 19, a major fire broke out in Sector 19 following a cylinder blast, leaving over a dozen camps destroyed, though no casualties were recorded. On January 25, two parked cars caught fire in Sector 2 due to a short circuit in one of the vehicles, which then spread to the other.
The Maha Kumbh, which began on January 13, will continue until February 26.
