Eveready launches Siren Torch, a safety alarm torch for women, priced at Rs 225
Eveready has launched the Siren Torch, a flashlight equipped with a 100-decibel safety alarm designed to enhance women’s security in distress situations. The product was unveiled by Dr. Kiran Bedi, India’s first woman IPS officer, in Mumbai on July 16.The device emits a powerful alarm when users pull an attached keychain, alerting passersby while the torch flashes. Priced at Rs 225, the compact 120 x 32 cm torch features USB Type-B charging and three lighting modes, making it accessible for widespread use.
Deaf women lead awareness campaign
Eveready’s #AwaazUthaneyKaPower campaign promotes the torch through a unique approach—featuring deaf and verbally challenged women sharing their safety concerns through sign language. Partnering with India Signing Hands, an organization supporting the deaf community, the brand created a film showcasing women recounting experiences of eve-teasing and danger.“The involuntary silence of the actors on screen serves to drive home the impossibility of the situation that women face on a daily basis,” said Sukesh Nayak, Chief Creative Officer at Ogilvy India, which crafted the campaign.
Empowering safety beyond voice
Dr. Kiran Bedi emphasized that external safety tools are essential for women’s mental health and empowerment. “Sometimes an external tool is needed to feel safe in all circumstances—whether moving out at odd hours or travelling distances to fulfil their dreams,” she stated, adding that her NGOs, Navjyoti India Foundation and India Vision Foundation, would support the campaign.Anirban Banerjee, Senior Vice President at Eveready, described the Siren Torch as a transformative solution enabling women to “make noise even without a voice.” The feature-rich device aims to serve women across rural farmlands and urban settings, empowering self-defense and building confidence in vulnerable situations.
