Iran’s foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday held talks with external affairs minister S Jaishankar. EAM Jaishankar noted that the exchange focused on recent developments amid escalating tensions in Iran.“Received a call from Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. We discussed the evolving situation in and around Iran,” Jaishankar wrote on X.Earlier today, India advised all its nationals in Iran to leave the country using available means, as tensions rose amid fears of possible US military action over Tehran’s crackdown on nationwide protests. In a fresh advisory, the Indian embassy in Tehran urged students, pilgrims, businesspeople and tourists to depart via commercial flights, and asked those remaining to exercise caution and avoid protest areas.Rights groups say at least 2,586 people have been killed in a sweeping security crackdown, making it the deadliest unrest in decades. US President Donald Trump warned of potential military action over the killings, while Iran accused the US and Israel of orchestrating the protests. Meanwhile, mass funerals were held for security personnel, as fear continued to grip Iranian streets.
