Delhi shocker: 2 youths chase, attack woman journalist’s car from Noida to Ashram; smash windows, held | Delhi News
NEW DELHI: Police arrested two men for allegedly chasing and attacking a TV producer when she was returning home in south Delhi from Noida early on Friday. The suspects, allegedly drunk, also vandalised her car on DND Flyway. The suspects were identified as Shubham and Deepak, who are in their mid-twenties and from Dabri village in southwest Delhi. Earlier this year, they were caught with illegal weapons and booked under the Arms Act.The survivor told TOI that around 12.45am, she was returning home after finishing her work when two men on a scooter waylaid her near Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. “Just within two-three minutes of getting on the expressway, I noticed two men following me. I started driving at high speed, but I was also scared that I would end up hitting their scooter or it would collide with my car,” she said.“There were several cars once I was on DND Flyway. I was lucky that there was a car on my right side, the driver’s side, so they couldn’t hit me directly. Instead, they attacked the left side window and the rear windshield,” she added. “After breaking the glass, they also tried to get into the car, but I kept driving.”The woman alleged that nobody stopped to help her. “I kept honking and finally called police after reaching the Ashram flyover.” She also said the men kept hurling abuses and threatening her.Police were informed at 1.27am. A team from the Sunlight Colony police station scanned CCTV footage from the route and nearby areas, and intelligence from local sources was developed, said an officer. Soon, both accused were identified and detained, he added. An FIR on the charges of mischief, wrongful restraint, insulting the modesty of a woman and common intention under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered.DCP Hemant Tiwari said, “The prompt action of the PCR unit, effective field coordination and focused investigation reflects Delhi Police‘s commitment to ensure women’s safety, particularly during late-night hours. Delhi Police appeals to women to dial 112 in case of any distress or suspicious activity.”
