Delhi elections 2025: Verdict an end to reign of lies, deceit & corruption, says Shah | India News

NEW DELHI: Home minister Amit Shah on Saturday hailed the Delhi result as the beginning of a “new era of development” in the national Capital and an “end to the reign of lies, deceit and corruption”.
In a series of posts on X, Shah, who is credited with shaping the details of the party’s poll strategy, said Delhi would become an ideal capital under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership.

“BJP is determined to fulfil all its promises and make Delhi the number one capital of the world,” he said.
“Residents of Delhi have shown that repeated false promises cannot mislead people,” he said, asserting that they answered through their votes to the problems of a polluted Yamuna, dirty drinking water, broken roads, overflowing sewers and liquor shops in every street.
“Be it respect for women, self-respect of unauthorised colony residents or the immense possibilities of self-employment, Delhi will now become an ideal capital under PM Modi’s leadership,” he said. Shah said the result was a defeat of arrogance and anarchy. “This is a victory of Modi ki guarantee and the trust of the people of Delhi in Modi’s vision of development. The people of Delhi dismantled the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ of lies, deceit and corruption and made the city AAP-da free,” he ,” he added.
Shah also took a swipe at Congress over its performance, saying the party that ruled the city for 15 years could not even open its account in any election since 2014 as “it is only serving the Nehru-Gandhi family”.
Crucial meetings, deployment of party functionaries in different roles other than intensive engagement with the electorate and a campaign blitz were part of Shah’s strategic approach to the Delhi polls to give BJP a remarkable victory.
His campaign in Delhi was also characterised by an aggressive schedule, comprising 18 programmes over several weeks. His activities included 12 public meetings and four roadshows, strategically placed across various constituencies to ensure maximum outreach.
The campaign kicked off with a significant event on Jan 11 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium where Shah addressed a large gathering at a “slum conference”. This was crucial as it targeted one of the largest voter demographics of Delhi, setting the tone for BJP’s welfare-centric narrative.
On Jan 25, he released BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra (manifesto)’, which was followed by two public meetings in Rajouri Garden and Tri Nagar, where he emphasised the party’s promises and lashed out at AAP’s governance model. The manifesto was seen as a “masterstroke” by many as it aimed at reinstating trust in BJP’s commitment to Delhi’s development.
