‘Dance of the Hillary’: Intelligence agencies warn of massive cyber attack through social media | Chandigarh News

BATHINDA: The intelligence agencies are learnt to have detected efforts of cyber-attack through malware during the rising tensions between India and Pakistan.The virus named Dance of the Hillary is learnt to be used for cyber-attack. It has been learnt that it is being circulated through social media platforms including WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram.It enters the smartphones through videos or document files and on being opened it gets the personal details of the user. It has also been learnt that it could steal some sensitive info from phones. An official of Punjab Police said that the agencies have also detected a WhatsApp number being used by Pakistani posing as Indian defence official, to call journalists and civilians to acquire information on ongoing situation while “Operation Sindoor” is in progress. The agencies have cautioned not to fall for such attempts. People have been asked not to click on suspicious links sent by unknown persons as it could be part of cyber-attack. Punjab Police made a tweet on X on Monday captioned Cyber Alert: Pakistan-Based Malware Threat. It stated a dangerous malware named “Dance of the Hillary” is being spread by Pakistan-based hackers targeting Indian users via WhatsApp, Facebook and Email. This malware can steal your banking info, passwords and personal data, and may even allow remote control of your device. Do not click on unknown links or messages from strangers.
