Berhampur. Cyber police recovered Rs 1.67 lakh out of Rs 7.7 lakh that was fradulently taken by cyber criminals from a woman in Berhampur about five months ago. The victim, an employee of a private bank, lodged the complaint in cyber police station on July 8 after she realised that she has been duped.Police said the woman received a call from an unknown number on July 4. The fraudster informed her that he was a bonafide customer of their bank having his account in the name of Janapriya Developer. He asked her for formalities for fixed deposit of Rs 2 crore and requested her to send Rs 10.65 lakh through RTGS to a given account from their bank account.In good faith, she sent a sum of Rs 7,70,161 from her personal bank account on July 5. When the caller did not respond, the woman realised that she has been duped. After working upon digital evidences, cyber police team found Rs 4.4 lakh in 11 accounts of the fraudster. After getting the court order, Rs1.67 lakh was credited to the account of the complainant. Steps are being taken to return the rest amount to the complainant, said SP (Berhampur) Saravana Vivek M.
