Bhopal/Nagpur: A four-year-old girl, Ambika Vishwakarma from Kakai Bhilwa village in Chhindwara, died early Wednesday after battling for life for over a month at a private hospital in Nagpur, taking the toll of children believed to have been killed by consuming toxic cough syrup to 24.Meanwhile, MP govt told a Chhindwara district court that Dr Praveen Soni, arrested for prescribing Coldrif, took Rs 8 per bottle as commission. The court, while rejecting Soni’s bail plea on Oct 8, took note of the charge that the physician had a 10% financial stake in pushing the cough syrup — priced at Rs 89 per bottle.The order said he “continued to prescribe the same syrup even after deaths were reported, showing deliberate and knowing conduct rather than medical error”.
