Chhattisgarh power bills to drop again; FPPAS reduced for second consecutive month | Raipur News

RAIPUR: Electricity consumers in Chhattisgarh will see a reduction in their power bills this month, as the fuel and power purchase adjustment surcharge (FPPAS) has been lowered for the second consecutive month.Consumers will receive a 1.44% discount on the energy charge portion of their June bill. This means they will pay less in their August bill for the electricity consumed in July.As per a notification from the Union Ministry of Power, the Variable Cost Adjustment (VCA) charge has been replaced by FPPAS. While the VCA was calculated every two months, the new FPPAS is now determined monthly by the power company based on its purchase costs, said state power company spokesperson. The Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company’s power purchase costs decreased last month. The FPPAS for electricity consumed in June will therefore be 1.44 per cent lower, and this discount will be reflected in the July bill, which is payable in August.According to Distribution Company Managing Director Bhim Singh Kanwar, the discount will be automatically calculated and applied to the bill. This is the second month in a row that the surcharge has been reduced. Last month, the surcharge was lowered by 0.12%. Kanwar attributed the reduction to better management by the power company and improved production from its plants.
