‘Chapoli dam water enough for 4 months’ | Goa News
Canacona: The water level of Chapoli reservoir is around 35 mts as on March 29, which is enough to tackle the requirements of residents for the next four months, said Dhananjay Nagvekar, assistant engineer (WRD), Canacona.
“Total rainfall recorded last monsoon was 4496.00 mm, due to which we have 27cm more water storage than last year. Due to the excess rainfall, we can satisfy consumers for more than four months from now. Even if rain gets delayed, consumers won’t be inconvenienced,” said Nagvekar.
“Also, water stored in Gaunem dam serves as a back-up storage facility in case of emergency,” said Nagvekar. This irrigation dam as of today has a storage level of 60m, which was 58.7 last year.
