Cattle Smuggler Injured in Showdown with Sonbhadra Police: Arrest Made | Varanasi News
Varanasi: In an encounter between cattle smugglers and police near Naugadh culvert under Robertsganj police station area in Sonbhadra district, a cattle smuggler was injured and arrested after being shot on Friday. A pickup truck with five cattle, a country-made pistol of 315 bore, a live cartridge, and an empty cartridge were recovered from his possession.According to reports, Robertsganj police and SOG team received information that four cattle smugglers were transporting some cattle in a pickup truck from Ghorawal via Naugadh Robertsganj route to Bihar for slaughter. Acting on this information, Robertsganj police and SOG team formed two separate teams and immediately reached the spot, cordoning off the area near Domuhiya culvert.Seeing themselves surrounded, the criminals started firing at the police force while attempting to flee. In retaliatory action in self-defence, a smuggler, Jitendra Yadav, resident of Jhariya, Chainpur police station of Bhabua district (Bihar), was injured and arrested after being shot in his right leg. The other three criminals, Ibrar, Mallu, and Hazrat, fled. The injured criminal was sent to the district hospital under police custody for treatment.During interrogation, the arrested criminal revealed that the entire conspiracy and planning for cattle smuggling was hatched by his relatives, Bhagwan Yadav and Balwant Yadav, based in Kaimur, Bihar. He said that they loaded these five cattle near Ghorawal and were taking them to Bihar via Naugarh to hand over to notorious smugglers Nate, Mukhiya, and Hafiz. They also previously transported cattle several times and handed them over to these people, who then sent them to West Bengal for slaughter.The CO City, Randhir Kumar Mishra, said that based on the recovery and arrest, a case has been registered under relevant sections at Robertsganj police station. Police teams have been formed to arrest the absconding criminals. Further legal proceedings are underway.
