Bihar cabinet expansion: CM Nitish Kumar allocates portfolios to 7 newly-inducted BJP MLAs

NEW DELHI: Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government on Thursday announced the updated portfolios for its cabinet ministers, a day after expanding state’s council of ministers by including seven BJP MLAs.
The cabinet reshuffle comes just months ahead of the state assembly elections.
The newly sworn-in ministers are Sanjay Saraogi, Sunil Kumar, Jibesh Mishra, Krishna Kumar Mantoo, Motilal Prasad, Vijay Kumar Mandal, and Raju Kumar Singh. The expansion is seen as a strategic move by Nitish Kumar, who maintains a close alliance with the BJP.

  • Samrat Choudhary: Finance and commercial tax
  • Vijay Kumar Sinha: Agriculture, mines and geology
  • Prem Kumar: Cooperative department
  • Krishna Kumar Mantoo: Information and technology
  • Jibesh Mishra: Urban development and housing
  • Vijay Mandal: Disaster management
  • Sanjay Saraogi: Revenue and land reforms
  • Sunil Kumar: Environment, forest and climate change
  • Motilal Prasad: Arts, culture and youth department
  • Raju Kumar Singh: Tourism
