Bhubaneswar: From Dec to March, the capital city will soak in festive fervour with authorities planning to organise 60 episodes of ‘Bhubaneswar Vibes’, a dance and music show in which residents as well as trained performers will bring streets alive at 60 places on weekends. Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will jointly organise the events.Officials said initial discussions were held to organise the events that promise to infuse a festive spirit across the city. The much-anticipated Patha Utsav will also be organised three times — one in Dec and two in Jan.“The events are aimed at creating a platform where both citizens and trained artists can showcase their talents. The initiative is designed to foster community engagement and celebrate the rich culture of the city. The events will be a melting pot of artistic expressions, with food streets doubling up as stages for dance and music performances,” said Kailash Das, BMC additional commissioner. He said BSCL will a pivotal role in organising the shows.Officials said the festival will see food streets transformed into lively arenas where spontaneous performances by the audience will be encouraged, adding an element of surprise and spontaneity. Authorities have planned to hire popular singers, dancers and ace music performers to ensure a high-quality entertainment experience.Each location will offer a unique experience, with different musical instruments taking centre stage. For instance, one venue might feature the soulful melodies of a saxophone, while another might resonate with the rhythmic beats of local drums and strumming of guitars. The diversity in performances is intended to cater to varied tastes and preferences, ensuring that there is something for everyone.City authorities are keen on making these events inclusive and accessible, encouraging participation from all sections of the society. The initiative is not just about entertainment; it is about building a sense of community and pride among residents. “By bringing people together through the language of music and dance, the city aims to create lasting memories and strengthen the social fabric,” an officer said.
