Bandh called off as govt okays Lai council formation | Guwahati News
Aizawl: Central Lai Young Association , the largest civil society organisation in south Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district, has called off its proposed indefinite bandh scheduled to begin at 5 am on Monday.The decision came after the state govt issued a notification late on Sunday afternoon announcing the formation of the executive committee of the Lai Autonomous District Council. CYLA had earlier resolved to enforce the bandh, alleging deliberate delay by the state govt and governor in constituting the executive committee despite Mizo National Front (MNF) and Congress, which together hold a majority in the council.
