Apple iPhone SE 4 may launch tomorrow: Everything you need to know about the most affordable iPhone of 2025

Apple is poised to unveil its fourth-generation iPhone SE as early as next week, bringing significant design changes and new features while maintaining its below $500 price point.

iPhone SE 4 release date (expected)

While Apple typically reserves major iPhone announcements for its fall events, the iPhone SE update is expected to be announced via press release, with pre-orders likely starting next week and availability by the end of February.

iPhone SE 4 design: What to expect

The new model will abandon the dated home button design in favor of a modern 6.1-inch OLED display with a notch, matching the look of the iPhone 14. This marks the end of Touch ID on iPhones, with the budget model switching to Face ID for biometric authentication.
Apple is reportedly adding the customizable Action button, first introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro, replacing the traditional mute switch. The phone will also include modern features like Emergency SOS via satellite and crash detection.

iPhone SE 4 performance: What to expect

Sources familiar with the matter indicate the device will be powered by Apple’s latest A18 chip, enabling it to support the company’s new Apple Intelligence features, including enhanced Siri capabilities and advanced photo editing tools. The processor upgrade represents a significant leap from the A15 chip found in the current model.
The new iPhone SE will be the first Apple device to feature the company’s in-house developed 5G modem, though it will only support sub-6GHz networks rather than faster mmWave technology.
Storage is expected to start at 128GB, double the base storage of the current model. The device will feature 8GB of RAM, also double its predecessor.
The device will feature USB-C charging, replacing the Lightning port, and is expected to support MagSafe wireless charging. Battery life should see substantial improvements thanks to a larger 3,279mAh battery, compared to the current model’s 2,018mAh capacity.

iPhone SE 4 camera: What to expect

Camera improvements include a switch to a 48-megapixel main sensor, up from the 12-megapixel camera on the current SE. While maintaining a single-lens setup, the new sensor is expected to enable 2x optical-quality zoom through cropping.

iPhone SE 4 expected price

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to start at $499, a $70 increase from the current model’s $429 starting price.
