5,600 workers sent to Israel for jobs, more on the way, UP minister tells assembly

NEW DELHI: UP’s labour and employment minister Anil Rajbhar informed the legislative assembly about the deployment of 5,600 workers to Israel, with plans to send 5,000 more.
This information came in response to Samajwadi Party MLA Prabhu Narayan Yadav’s written query, where Rajbhar emphasised the workers’ substantial economic contribution.
“Our workers in Israel are contributing significantly to the state’s economy, sending foreign currency worth Rs 1,000 crore annually,” he said.
Rajbhar indicated an additional requirement for 11,000 caregiver workers in Israel.
He disclosed that the state is processing applications for 5,000 nursing positions in Germany, offering Rs 2.5 lakh monthly compensation.
The minister also mentioned Japan’s requirement for 12,000 caregivers, offering Rs 1.25 lakh monthly salary. He confirmed ongoing application processing and active measures to fulfil this skilled labour demand.
He outlined various employment initiatives including job fairs, overseas placement, Seva Mitra system, career guidance and manpower outsourcing.
The minister also spoke about partnerships with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), a government-supported organisation.
“Will the government tell us the number of educated unemployed individuals (Intermediate, BA, MA, Diploma, B.Tech., M.Tech., PhD) in the state for the last two years (2022-2023, 2023-2024), and how many people have been given jobs by the Labour Department in the last two years? If not, why?” the SP MLA asked.
Responding to this query, Rajbhar stated that 5,68,062 qualified candidates sought employment through job offices in the past two years. During this period (from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2024), 4,75,510 candidates secured private sector positions through employment fairs organised by service offices.
