177 political appointments made by AAP regime cancelled by Delhi govt

NEW DELHI: The newly-formed BJP government in Delhi has annulled 177 political appointments of chairpersons and vice-chairpersons across various boards, corporations and commissions in the capital.
These appointments were made during the tenure of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

The Services Department issued an order confirming that all such political appointments have been canceled.
Earlier in February, the Delhi government had also terminated all co-terminus appointments made in the offices of the former chief minister and cabinet ministers.
The action came after the BJP secured a decisive victory in the assembly elections, winning 48 out of 70 seats. The AAP, on the other hand, only managed to secure 22 seats, with several prominent leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Satyender Jain, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, losing in their respective constituencies.
Following the BJP’s triumph, Rekha Gupta was sworn in as Delhi’s chief minister in February this year, during a grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan.
