During the chat, Yuvraj revealed he was scolded by his mom that very morning and jokingly admitted he prefers his nani maa’s kadhi chawal over his mom’s. When asked about her first meeting with Hazel Keech, Shabnam fondly recalled spotting a sweet young girl trying to get Yuvraj’s attention by making him catch popcorn at one of her events.
Yuvraj’s Funny Take on Meeting Hazel
When Yuvraj Singh appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show with Hazel Keech, he shared the fun yet tricky journey of how they first met. He said he had approached Hazel at a party and asked her out for coffee. Hazel didn’t respond but didn’t want to hurt his ego either—so she simply turned off her phone. This happened about seven to eight times!

Later, when Yuvraj was diagnosed with cancer, he informed Hazel, and she wished him good luck. But they still didn’t stay in touch. About three years later, Yuvraj noticed one of his friends was connected to Hazel on Facebook. He warned his friend, saying Hazel had ignored him completely for years. He deleted her, thinking, “She never even gave me the time of day. Who does she think she is?”

But destiny had other plans. Despite everything, Yuvraj confessed, “I still wanted to marry this girl.” Even after reconnecting, Hazel took another year to say yes—making Yuvraj wait patiently.

Yuvraj Singh is truly a mumma’s boy, and his bond with his mother, Shabnam Singh, is filled with deep love and respect. She raised Yuvraj and his brother Zorawar single-handedly, and seeing her beloved son marry the love of his life, Hazel Keech, brought her immense joy.
Shabnam openly welcomed Hazel into the family and, in an interview with Hindustan Times, shared how proud she felt witnessing Yuvraj’s wedding. She said it was a special moment, as she had raised Yuvi alone and now felt a sense of comfort knowing Hazel would be there to look after him too. It gave her peace to know her son was in good hands.
