Unfortunately, so was their breakup, which happened six years after their relationship. It was one of the most talked about topics back then, and now again is making headlines, as Becky Lynch took a dig at Nikki’s past with Cena on Monday Night Raw.
Why did John Cena and Nikki Bella break up?
‘Peacemaker’ star John Cena and Nikki Bella started dating in 2012, and the following year, the couple moved in together. John Cena, who was known for his intimidating personality in the ring, had a few non-negotiables that he wanted Nikki to know and sign up for before they moved in together, as shown in ‘Total Divas and Total Bellas’. So there was a 75-page-long contract with many rules that Nikki signed before moving in with him.

Several media reports claimed that John Cena and Nikki Bella were not on the same page when it came to kids. While Cena never wanted to embrace fatherhood and was open about it from the beginning of the relationship, Nikki’s point of view changed as their relationship progressed. Initially, she was okay with John’s idea of not starting a family, but after the WWE champion proposed to her in the wrestling ring, Nikki’s perspective changed, and she wanted to be a mother. The two were also seen discussing this in ‘Total Bellas.’

In 2018, Nikki Bella and John Cena parted ways. They called off their wedding and moved on with their respective lives. After the separation, Nikki spoke once about the difficult time she had to face when things ended with Cena. “You almost wish it was bad, because it’s so much easier to walk away,” she said on Entertainment Tonight before adding, “It’s so much harder to walk away when it’s loving. I think a lot of women get into this situation when it’s like, ‘I love this person, but I don’t know if it’s right for my life,’ and that’s a hard thing. Sometimes we meet amazing people, but we’re just meant to live a different life.”
