Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma finalized their divorce-by-mutual-consent, with Chahal agreeing to pay Rs 4.75 crore in alimony. The Bombay High Court had expedited the case, ensuring the divorce was finalized before March 20, as Chahal had IPL 2025 commitments from March 21.
But before their separation, Chahal once spoke about how Dhanashree’s presence in the stadium gave him an extra boost. In a throwback interview before IPL 2023, he shared how his then-wife played a vital role in his confidence.
Chahal on Dhanashree’s support during IPL
During an interview, when asked if Dhanashree’s presence at the stadium impacted his performance, Chahal had said, “Yes, definitely. I feel more confident when she is with me. She always gives me strength and positive vibes. When you see your loved ones rooting for you and they just came to see you, I really love seeing her in the stands. She’s smiling always and she observes me very well, especially my bowling. Just two weeks ago, I discovered that she can sometimes predict where I’ll bowl. I’m relieved that she’s only on my side. And she isn’t going to tell anyone about it.”
Chahal spotted with RJ Mahvash amid divorce
Amid the legal battle, Chahal grabbed headlines when he was spotted with RJ Mahvash at the Champions Trophy final in Dubai. The two were seen sitting together in premium stands, and a viral video showed them standing side by side, engrossed in their phones. Chahal was seen in a blue face mask, baggy jacket, and blue denim, while Mahvash wore beige pants and a dark brown top.
Chahal and Dhanashree’s divorce settlement
Reports suggest that Chahal and Dhanashree had been living separately for over two and a half years before filing for divorce. The court ruled that Chahal must pay Rs 4.75 crore in alimony, of which Rs 2.37 crore had already been settled.
