Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan, whose unfiltered confessions and straightforwardness always keep her in the headlines, sometimes even left the internet in awe. For instance, once, she candidly spoke about her decades-long relationship with her husband Amitabh Bachchan, which has love, respect, and friendship.
During one of her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda’s podcasts, Jaya Bachchan described Amitabh Bachchan as her best friend and shared that she used to share everything with him.

The final episode of her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda’s podcast, ‘What The Hell Navya 2,’ featured an emotional discussion in which Jaya discussed her thoughts on the nature of friendship and love in relationships.
In response to Navya’s question, “If two people are just friends, is it correct to put romance in between a friendship?” Jaya had said, “My closest friends are inside my house. It’s true, my husband is my best friend. I don’t hide anything from him.”
What she said showed the significance of her friendship, trust, and honesty with Amitabh Bachchan.
Jaya had also talked about a difficult time in their lives, bringing up Amitabh Bachchan’s financial troubles and bankruptcy. Jaya had quietly supported him through that difficult time without becoming controlling. She had said, “I don’t know whether I did the right thing or wrong, but it’s also nice when a man is going through this phase; it’s just to be there and be quiet. Instead of weee-wee, it is annoying. If they want your help, if they need it, they will.”
Shweta Bachchan shared her view on friendship with parents
In the same conversation, Shweta Bachchan, Navya’s mother and Jaya’s daughter, shared her thoughts on the contemporary practice of parents referring to their kids as friends. She said that certain boundaries had to be maintained and that she found the idea confusing. “I don’t know why everyone likes to say, ‘my daughter is my best friend’ or ‘my son is my best friend.’ We are not friends. You are my mother, there are certain lines that I cannot cross with you. My children are my children, and my friends are my friends,” she said.
