Amrish Puri’s Unexpected Slap During Bhumika’s Shoot
During the shoot of Bhumika, Amrish Puri once slapped Smita Patil in front of everyone on set. He revealed this himself in an interview. A video of him sharing this story is now going viral on social media.
On talk show, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, Amrish shared that he had a scene with Smita Patil in the film where she asks him to leave, and he had to react with anger. As part of the scene, he also had to slap her.
The Scene That Led to the Unexpected Slap
The late actor recalled that before shooting the scene, he had an idea and asked director Shyam Benegal if he could actually slap Smita Patil. Benegal hesitated, fearing she might walk out of the shoot, but after some thought, he agreed.
He further shared that Smita Patil was unaware of the plan. When the scene began, he suddenly slapped her, making her reaction completely natural. After the shot, she playfully ran after him to hit him back, and the entire crew burst into laughter.
