Known for his commitment to physically transforming for roles like he underwent for his biggest release till date Chhhava; he had to put on 25 kgs of muscle to look like his character of Chhatrapathi Sambhaji Mahahraj. Post that he also had to undergo a rigorous regime to get into a lean frame for his next film which is Sanjay Leela Bhasanli’s Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The film is slated to hit the theaters during Independence Day weekend of 2026. Vicky plays an armed officer and he has to have a lean body frame and to achieve that he had to let go of most of the muscles that he had gained for Chhaava. And to achieve that Vicky went on a a strict calorie deficit of around 2,000 to 2,500 kcal per day ,a strategy meticulously monitored and adjusted to suit his hectic shooting schedule.
According to the source, his trainer Tejas Lalwani and his team weighed Kaushal’s progress every week. “Every week checks would happen to see how much weight has been dropped? Are they achieving the structure that want?” The transformation wasn’t just about slashing calories, the plan was moved around keeping in mind Vicky schedules which would range from multiple shoots in a day to jus chilling at home.Eventually, the team decided to bring a dedicated nutritionist on board to fine-tune the plan who helped in making the planning even more specific about what kind of food should be added to the plan to what kind of training should be done to when to give Vicky a rest day.The disciplined regimen paid off. Kaushal reportedly achieved a sharper jawline, even while sporting his signature moustache, giving him a more chiseled and lean profile for Love & War. Sources say his natural metabolism helped significantly. The physical transformation journey for Vicky is not over yet as from Love & War he will jump into Mahavatar where he once again has to go increase his weight and size but that process will start only when Bhansali’s film is completed.
