Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited sequel Son of Sardaar 2 is making headlines—but not just for its star power or comedy-packed trailer. Ahead of its release, the film has run into a few bumps with the Censor Board, leading to notable dialogue changes. From toned-down phrases to muted references, here’s everything you need to know before it hits theatres.
CBFC ‘s key modifications
According to a recent Bollywood Hungama report, the Examining Committee of the CBFC has asked for multiple dialogue modifications in Son of Sardaar 2. A reference to Chinese President Xi Jinping was muted, while the word ‘item’ was replaced with ‘madam’. The phrase ‘kuttey ki tarah’ was toned down to ‘bahut buri tarah’. Additionally, a line starting with ‘Bhagwan’ and ending with ‘…pe Lezim’ was revised. Notably, no action scenes were cut.
Certified with U/A 13+ rating
The CBFC has cleared Son of Sardaar 2 with a U/A 13+ certificate after the makers implemented the suggested dialogue changes. As per the board’s report, the Ajay Devgn-led film has an official runtime of 2 hours, 27 minutes, and 32 seconds.
Release delayed
Son of Sardaar 2, initially set for a July 25, 2025 release, has been pushed to August 1. The new date sets up a box office clash with Dharma Productions’ Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri.Ajay Devgn returns as Jaswinder Singh Randhawa (aka Jassi), with Mrunal Thakur playing his love interest, Rabia. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film also features Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, Kubbra Sait, Chunky Panday, Sharat Saxena, Vindu Dara Singh, Ashwini Kalsekar, and the late Mukul Dev. It is co-produced by Devgn Films and Jio Studios.
