'Shocked beyond words': Malini Awasthi reacts to Ranveer Allahbadia's controversial remark about parents on India's Got Latent

YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, recently made an appearance on comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent. During the show, Allahbadia asked a contestant whether they would prefer to watch their parents having s** every day for the rest of their life or join them once to stop it forever. After his comment went viral, he faced backlash and legal complaints for making a controversial and inappropriate remark.
Malini Awasthi, renowned for her folk songs, recently expressed her thoughts on Allahbadia’s controversial statement during an interview with India Today. The singer stated that she was “shocked beyond words” upon discovering his name trending while she was busy performing at Maha Kumbh. Awasthi lamented the influence such individuals have on the youth, emphasising that his remarks cannot be dismissed as casual, regardless of the context in which they were made, even if it was on a wild comedy show.
Following the widespread anger, Allahbadia issued an apology, acknowledging his “lapse in judgment” and admitting that the comment was inappropriate and not even funny. He stated that comedy is not his thing and promised to use his platform more responsibly in the future. He also requested the removal of the offensive portion from the video.
The controversy has led to a police complaint being filed against Allahbadia and others involved in the show, with accusations of using vulgar language and disrespecting women. Critics have also raised concerns about the ethical boundaries of comedy and content creation on digital platforms, especially considering the wide-ranging audience, including children. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that anyone crossing the limits of decency would face action.
