Shahid Kapoor’s Deva hits its lowest collection of Rs 50 lakh, struggles to stay afloat

Shahid Kapoor’s much-anticipated action thriller Deva has been facing a steep decline at the box office, with its Day 11 earnings marking the lowest so far. The film, which opened with a decent Rs 5.5 crore on its first Friday, has now dropped significantly, collecting an estimated Rs 50 lakh on its second Monday.

Despite showing some promise in its opening weekend where it earned Rs 19.15 crore but the film started to lose its momentum from its first Monday onwards. The drastic 62% drop to Rs 2.75 crore on Day 4 set the tone for the coming days, as the film continued its downward trajectory throughout the first week. The film ended its first week at Rs 28.5 crore.
By the second Friday, its collections had already fallen to Rs 80 lakh, struggling to maintain its hold over audiences. While the film showed minor growth over the second weekend, with Rs 1.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.3 crore on Sunday, the drop on Monday ( day 11) toRs 50 lakh suggests that Deva is running out of steam. This sharp decline can be attributed to multiple factors, including increased competition from newer releases like Sanam Teri Kasam which is earning more money on its re-release than its original run , and mixed word of mouth the the Hindi remake of Mumbai Police.
Shahid Kapoor’s performance and the film’s action-packed sequences had initially generated buzz, but it seems that Deva has failed to sustain interest among audiences. The film now faces an uphill battle to remain relevant in the coming days. With its collections slipping below Rs 1 crore, it is unlikely that Deva will see any major resurgence, and its theatrical run might soon come to an end.
For his next film Shahid will be seen teaming up with Vishal Bharadwaj once again after Kaminey, Haider and Rangoon. The film also features names like Randeep Hooda, Triptii Dimri and Nana Patekar.
