While talking to Entertainment Weekly, Sam Raimi opened up about his experience of working on ‘Send Help.’ McAdams and Raimi have previously worked together on ‘Doctor Strange 2: Multiverse of Madness’, after which the director was fairly impressed with her. Talking about working with the ‘Mean Girls’ fame star, Raimi shared, “She put so much gusto into it and authenticity that she made the ghost scene work. I had great animators to help, but she made that work as well as her character stuff. I thought, I’m gonna work with this person again.”He also shared that when he talked about the scene with the actress, he though there would be some feedback, or some reluctance. However, the star was all set and ready to shoot it and directly asked him what she had to do.

The scene that the director refers to is from when they are in the same universe as the evil Doctor Strange, when the sorcerer tries to dreamwalk into the dead body of one of his versions from another universe. This, however, has repercussions as it is dark magic, and ghosts shoot out in all directions, one attacking McAdams’ character in the Marvel film.

‘Send Help’ plot

The story is set around an employee who is obsessed with the show ‘Survivor’, but has never been able to land a place in the cast. When she gets on a private plane with her arrogant boss, who has just fired her, things fall apart. The plane faces a blast, and there are only two survivors left, washed up on the shore of an abandoned island. She uses her skills to help them survive, the power dynamics start to change between the two, leading to a thrilling and horror-filled story.
