Akshay Kumar’s villain role and franchise expansion

Akshay Kumar’s reported role as the antagonist marks a shift for the series. This also aligns with his negative role in Priyadarshan’s ‘Haiwaan’, in which he starred opposite Saif Ali Khan. Now with Akshay Kumar’s entry and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s return, the series has got a boost.”Ajay Devgn will once again lead the ensemble. Regulars Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Kemmu are expected to return, along with Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari, and Ashwini Kalsekar. Production is scheduled to begin by the end of February 2026 at Film City in Mumbai, with a target release in early 2027.24yInterestingly, while Ajay Devgn has worked extensively with both Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan, the trio has never shared screen space together. That first-time combination makes ‘Golmaal 5’ especially notable as the franchise approaches its 20-year milestone.
