Rishabh Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ inches towards Rs 20 crore mark in advance booking
Kantara: Chapter 1, the sequel to the sleeper hit, is poised for a strong opening with advance bookings reaching nearly Rs 20 crore, a significant jump from its predecessor’s modest start. The film, projected to open at Rs 40 crore, faces a challenging box office clash with “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumar” for screens.

Back in 2022 when Rishabh Shetty’s Kantara released the cinema halls there were not many expectations from it, in fact its day 1 collection was also just Rs 1.50 crore. But as it spent more and more days at the ticket window, it began pulling in more crowds to the theaters. Its first week collection was Rs 30.3 crore second week collection was Rs 42.3 crore and week 3 collection was Rs 67.8 crore. The film in total went on to mint over Rs 310 crore at the box office with about Rs 80 crore coming from Hindi version despite releasing two weeks after its original release. The success of Kantara led to the making of it’s sequel Kantara: Chapter 1 which is slated to release tomorrow on the occasion of Dusshera and Gandhi Jayanti. The extended weekend would play a decisive role in the overall collection of the film. As per Sacnilk, the advance booking for the film is finally picking up speed, till Tuesday the film has sold tickets worth Rs 11 crore including block bookings but the numbers on Wednesday have jumped to almost Rs 20 crore. As per data Kantara: Chapter 1 has sold about more than 4,40,000 tickets amassing a total of Rs 12.24 crore and by adding the block deals the total collection of the film reaches Rs 19.85 crore. If the trend continues the film could look at an opening day collection of nothing less than Rs 40 crore. From an opening day collection of just Rs 1.5 crore to an advance sale of nearly Rs 20 crore- the franchise has come a long way.The journey for the film would have been smoother had Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumar not decided to clash with it. The film is North India had a lockjam as distributors of both the films were eyeing to get maximum screens for itself.
