'Pushpa 2' stampede case: Hyderabad police files charge sheet, Allu Arjun named as accused No 11
Hyderabad police have filed a charge sheet in the stampede case during the ‘Pushpa 2’ launch event. Actor Allu Arjun is named as accused number 11. The investigation points to crowd control failures and inadequate security. The case moves to court to fix liability for the incident. Police aim to prevent future occurrences.

Hyderabad Police have submitted a detailed charge sheet in the stampede case during the launch show of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ last year. The stampede had erupted at Sandhya Theatre amidst the chaos triggered by actor Allu Arjun’s entry. This raised issues regarding the safety and security of the event. The newly submitted charge sheet has now moved the case forward in the judicial process.

Allu Arjun listed in police records

The charge sheet has been submitted by the police at Chikkadpalli, after a detailed investigation into the incident, a report from Gulte says. Several names are included in the case, among which the management of Sandhya Theatre has been named the main accused (A1). Actor Allu Arjun has been called A11 in the police chargesheet. The police have stated that the purpose of the case is only to fix liability with respect to the negligence resulting in the stampede, and not to presume guilt.

Investigation points to crowd control failures

Based on the findings of the inquiry, crowd control failure and lack of adequate security were the key reasons that contributed to the crisis. Many fans had assembled to catch a glimpse of the film star but poor control of entrance, movement within, and security of the theatre was not well handled by the event organisers. The police interviewed theatre workers, security personnel, event organisers and members of the public who were at the scene of the incident during the inquiry.

Case moves to court as police stress accountability

The submission of the charge sheet shows that the police feel there is enough evidence to pursue the case in court. The case will now be up for judicial hearing, during which all those implicated will be allowed to submit their accounts as per the law. Allu Arjun’s name has been the subject of discussion on various forums, but the police stated that being on the chargesheet/arrest list does not mean being a suspect. All they want to be clear about is fixing liability (not presuming guilt) and preventing this from happening again.
