After much speculation, Prithviraj Sukumaran has shed new light on the much-anticipated project ‘Dragon’, directed by ‘KGF’ and ‘Salaar’ fame Prashanth Neel.During a recent conversation on Nayandeep Rakshit’s YouTube channel, Prithviraj Sukumaran said, “Speaking of ‘Dragon’, I know that Tovino Thomas is playing a key role in it. Likewise, Biju Menon is also playing a part. I know Prashanth is giving them roles that treat these actors with the respect they deserve.” His words have added clarity to the casting and also subtly confirmed the film’s title as ‘Dragon’, despite earlier confusion surrounding it.
Tovino and Biju Menon onboard a grand action epic
Fans of Malayalam cinema were thrilled by Prithviraj’s revelation that both Tovino Thomas and Biju Menon have important roles in this high-budget Telugu film. While Jr NTR leads the cast, Prashanth Neel is reportedly crafting significant characters for the Malayalam actors.
Title conflict still a concern despite public reference
Interestingly, while ‘Dragon’ seems to have emerged as the working title yet again, earlier reports suggested legal complications and potential audience confusion due to a Tamil film of the same name—’Dragon’ starring Pradeep Ranganathan—which became a 2025 hit and was dubbed in Telugu.
As per a Pinkvilla report, the makers had been cautious about finalizing the title due to the existing registration and industry norms. With Jr NTR’s wide appeal, especially in the Telugu states, the team is considering a name that avoids ambiguity yet reflects the scale and grandeur the film promises.Meanwhile, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s previous outing in the Malayalam film industry was the actioner ‘L2: Empuraan’ which received mostly mixed reviews from the audiences even though it raked in magnificent box office collections. ‘Empuraan’ also featured Tovino Thomas in a pivotal role. Prithviraj’s most highly awaited upcoming film in Malayalam is the intense drama film ‘Vilayath Buddha’.
