Hrithik Roshan’s mother, Pinkie Roshan, has penned a heartfelt tribute to Zarine Khan, mother of Sussanne Khan and Zayed Khan, who passed away on November 7 at the age of 81. Days after Zarine’s demise, Pinkie took to Instagram to remember her close friend and reflect on the unique bond the two shared.
‘A friendship very rare’
In her emotional note, Pinkie wrote, “A friendship very rare. A relationship very precious. Two mothers whose hearts were happy for each other and happiest when our children turned our friendship into mother of the bride and mother of the groom. Till until destiny had its own plans.”Pinkie Roshan revealed that even after Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan separated, she and Zarine chose kindness and understanding over resentment. “Our children grew apart and whilst facing their toughest phase we as mothers chose empathy and compassion over bitterness and hatred,” she wrote.She added, “We got even closer as we consoled each other with tears in our eyes, hugged each other, comforted each other… Tried our best and we found our bond getting stronger and our friendship more secure than ever… Zar, I will miss you.”In another post, Pinkie remembered Zarine for her warmth, writing, “Zarine Khan. In today’s world where we all need therapy and counselling, anyone who knew Zar… she was therapy.”
A look back at their family connection
Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan married in 2000 and parted ways 14 years later. Despite their separation, they have maintained a cordial relationship and continue to co-parent their sons, Hridhaan and Hrehaan Roshan. Throughout this period, Pinkie Roshan and Zarine Khan remained close, choosing to retain their friendship beyond their children’s relationship.Zarine Khan passed away after suffering a heart attack at her Juhu residence. Before marrying actor-filmmaker Sanjay Khan in 1966, Zarine briefly pursued acting, appearing in films such as Tere Ghar Ke Saamne (1963) and Ek Phool Do Mali (1969). After stepping away from acting, she built a successful career as an interior designer.She is survived by her husband Sanjay Khan and their children—Sussanne Khan, Zayed Khan, Simone Arora, and Farah Ali Khan.
