Sivakarthikeyan‘s ‘Parasakthi’ is set to hit theaters on January 10, 2026. However, the movie has not been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification. And according to the latest updates, the board has directed the makers to make 24 cuts after it was reviewed on January 7. Let’s learn more about it.
The censor board asks the ‘Parasakthi’ makers for 23 cuts in the film
According to the NDTV report, the CBFC in Chennai has asked the film team for 23 cuts. Reportedly, the board will likely grant the certificate to the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer today (January 8). The Censor Committee had directed the makers to drop some sequences showcasing anti-Hindi agitation in the movie. Later, filmmaker Sudha Kongara approached the Revising Committee of the board in Mumbai. The report stated that the director feels the suggested cuts would impact the storyline of the movie and change its context entirely. Meanwhile, the makers or the director have not released any statement about the development as of now.

Apart from Sivakarthikyean, ‘Parasakhti’ also stars Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela. The actress is set to make her Tamil debut with the film. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the film, which is set in 1960s Madras. Reportedly, it will showcase the socio-political environment of Tamil Nadu during the anti-Hindi protests. Sivakarthikeyan will be seen playing the role of a college student involved in the agitation.The movie is made on a reported budget of Rs 150 crore. And it is the 25th film of Sivakarthikeyan, and hence, the buzz around the film is sky high.The movie was to clash with Thalapathy Vijay‘s final film, ‘Jana Nayagan’; however, it is facing delays in the certification. The makers have now postponed the release date of the movie. However, no new date has been announced as of now.
