In a candid chat, the actor opened up about facing unequal treatment on film sets—where male stars were given better vanities and washrooms—and shared how even after delivering a blockbuster, she was dropped by her agency and left without work for nearly two years.In conversation with Nayandeep Rakshit on his YouTube channel, the actress spoke about the stark gender disparity in opportunities post-success. She pointed out that male actors—whether insiders or outsiders—tend to receive multiple offers right after delivering a hit. In contrast, women often continue to struggle even after proving their box office worth. Reflecting on her own journey since Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011), Nushrratt emphasised that all any actor wants after a hit is a few strong opportunities to choose from—but for female actors, those opportunities are far fewer than for their male counterparts.She also highlighted the inequality in on-set facilities, pointing out that male actors are often given bigger and better vanity vans. She recalled instances where she had to request access to a male co-star’s vanity van just to use a cleaner washroom, especially when he wasn’t around. Rather than complaining, she said she used those moments as motivation—promising herself that one day, she would reach a level where such basic comforts would be hers by default.Reflecting on her early career struggles, Bharuccha shared an incident that underscored the subtle hierarchy on film sets. She recalled flying economy class for a project where most of the main cast flew business class. Despite being offered a seat by friends in the business section, she declined—choosing instead to stay where she was assigned. For her, it wasn’t just about comfort, but about principle. She resolved to reach a point in her career where production houses would book her business class tickets by default—and eventually, she did just that.Nushrratt further revealed that despite delivering the biggest hit of her career, she didn’t get work for two years.
