Nana SUED for ‘attempted murder’; intruder counter-sues actress amid investigations |
Actor and singer Nana, formerly of the K-pop group After School, has found herself in a rather unlikely situation. The star, who was in the news after a man broke into her home and threatened her and her mother, is now being sued by the same man for ‘attempted murder’. Despite police concluding their investigations and stating that the actress’ actions in defending herself during the burglary attempt amounted to self-defence, the man in question has filed a separate lawsuit, the agency Sublime reports.
Nana sued by home intruder
According to the singer’s agency, the man who is being referred to as ‘A’, alleges that he sustained injuries while being restrained during the incident which took place on November 15 at 6 am. The Police report stated that the man broke into the star’s home through the balcony and assaulted Nana’s mother.Nana reportedly confronted the intruder and after a physical struggle, she was able to restrain the man, after which she contacted the police. He was then taken to the hospital with a jaw injury and the police later examined whether Nana’s actions constituted self-defence under Article 21, Paragraph 1 of South Korea’s Criminal Act.
Intruder claims he didn’t have a weapon
The intruder who reportedly acknowledged his crimes, later overturned his statement during police investigations, claiming he “did not possess a weapon at the time of the crime or inflict injuries on the victims”.Nana, who reportedly holds a fourth-degree black belt in Taekwondo, also sustained injuries during the altercation.
Nana’s agency vows to defend her
As per Sublime, the agency rejected the claims made by the intruder, saying, “‘A’ is causing secondary harm through inhumane acts, exploiting the fact that the victim is a public figure.” They added that Nana and her family continue to suffer both physically and emotionally from the ordeal.Sublime assured that it will pursue all necessary legal measures to protect Nana.
