Manoj Kumar, renowned as Bharat Kumar, passed away at the age of 87 on Friday. The ‘lion’ of the Indian Film Industry reportedly took his last breath at 3:30 a.m. at Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani Hospital after being admitted for a prolonged illness.
The late actor’s legacy has been flourishing over the years, and fans were deeply disheartened with the unfortunate news. Many of his fans were quick to share the deepest condolences on social media, where they even shared poetry, his tribute towards patriotism, and sweet memories with him.
One of the X users wrote, “Very sad news. Iconic star, the one who got the name Bharat Kumar due to his patriotic movies, Manoj Kumar is no more. One of the few actors from that era whom I liked a lot. And only actor from that era whose movies I used to watch in childhood. Shraddhanjali.”

Another user penned down his heartfelt sentiments, stating, “Pran Sahab is one of my favorite artists. He was one of the most handsome actors of his time but unfortunately he mostly got villain roles. Manoj kumar. Sahab Mahendra kapoor Ji”

Vivek Agnihotri, the director known for ‘The Kashmir Files,’ shared his condolences on social media. Being one of the late actor’s fans, he expressed, “India’s first truly original and committed Indic filmmaker, Dadasaheb Phalke awardee Shri Manoj Kumar ji, left us today. A proud nationalist. A staunch Hindu at heart. A visionary director who gave Indian cinema a new grammar — of song picturisation, of meaningful lyrics, of cinema that didn’t just entertain but remembered to belong. He made patriotism cinematic, without noise. He made nationalism poetic, without apology. In a time of borrowed voices and secondhand aesthetics, he dared to be rooted.
