Veteran Malayalam actor Mammootty has won the Padma Bhushan which is one of the highest civilian honours in India.Mammootty spoke openly about his feelings after the announcement. Talking to Mathrubhumi News he did not try to sound big or dramatic. He spoke like a simple man who felt proud and grateful. He said, “Santosham, athi santhosham.(Happy, the most happiest). there is nothing bigger than the honour from the country.”

Kamal Haasan was one of the first big stars to congratulate Mammootty. He shared a long and heartfelt message on X. His post showed the deep bond he shares with Mammootty even though they have never acted together. Kamal Haasan wrote, “My dear friend Mammukka has been announced as a recipient of the Padma Bhushan award. We have never acted together. But for a long time we have maintained a ‘Kopperunchozhan Pisiranthayaar’ kind of friendship, where we admire each other from a distance and also openly criticise each other.
