L2: Empuraan – Official Trailer

ETimes’ review of the movie states: “The first half follows the textbook ‘thrill every few minutes’ formula. After a brief geopolitical voiceover—about an Afro-China God Axis versus an Indo-Arab Lucifer nexus—and an action sequence in Iran, the story shifts to the 2002 riots in western India. It explores the backstory of a young Zayed Masood (Prithviraj), the shadowy figure accompanying Stephen Nedumpally, aka Khureshi Ab’raam, in the first film, Lucifer. It’s a villain origin story—or, in this case, an anti-hero origin story—where Zayed’s parents and family bear the brunt of the riots amid communal clashes, under a new and rising political order led by a figure named Bajrangi.

Nearly two decades later, as the scene shifts to Kerala, investigative news vlogger Govardhan (Indrajith) engages in a satellite call with an intelligence officer to uncover why Bajrangi is interested in Kerala. Soon enough, Jathin Ramdas (Tovino Thomas), a once-idealistic chief minister now at odds with his party and his sister Priyadarshini (Manju Warrier), makes a surprising announcement, declaring a shift in his political stance. This change signals that Kerala is about to be engulfed in communal politics.”
