Kantara Chapter 1: Netizens spot plastic water can in song, recall Game of Thrones blunder
Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ is a massive hit, crossing Rs 500 crore, but a 20-litre bottle can in a 4th-century scene has fans comparing it to the ‘Game of Thrones’ Starbucks blunder. Meanwhile, director Atlee lauded Shetty’s dual role as actor and director, calling him a great inspiration and deserving of a National Award.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1, the prequel to the 2022 blockbuster, has won huge praise and crossed Rs 500 crore in its first week. However, sharp-eyed fans noticed a funny goof-up — a 20-litre water can visible in the Brahmakalasha song’s community dining scene.

Goof-up compared to Game of Thrones’ Starbucks mistake

As soon as the video started doing the rounds online, the goof-up sparked reactions, as plastic didn’t exist during the film’s 4th-century Kadamba dynasty setting. Many netizens compared the slip-up to Game of Thrones’ famous 2019 Starbucks cup mistake, where a modern coffee cup was accidentally left on set.

Social media reacts with humour

While one user, ‘I just learned that the Kadambas were the first to use plastic water cans #KantaraChapter1’, another one added, ‘Paid Partnership with Bisleri.’ A user also added, ‘Sad to see this miss because so much care and attention to detail is seen in the movie…’

Atlee praises Rishab Shetty’s brilliance

Earlier, in a conversation with India Today, Atlee shared that despite being abroad, he couldn’t resist catching Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited prequel. “I was in Amsterdam when the film was released. On day one, I watched it in theatres. I drove for about two and a half hours to the theatre to watch it. Immediately after, I called Rishab, who is a good friend of mine and someone I have great respect for,” Atlee said.He also shared that Rishab Shetty, for his performance in the film, in a dual role as an actor and director, deserves to win the National Award. Atlee lauded him for something unbelievable.Calling him a great inspiration for all filmmakers, he said, “After seeing the film, I can say he is a wonderful inspiration for all filmmakers. What he has pulled off is something that is not humanly possible. As a director, I can say it is incredibly difficult to execute such a film. But he’s also the actor in it, the hero and it’s not just a character to play. It takes a lot of rhythm within you to bring that out.”
