As Saiyaara continues to soar at the box office, buzz around Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela’s upcoming musical drama with Anurag Basu has intensified. With the film’s release reportedly postponed, speculation is rife about whether Saiyaara’s success played a role in the delay.
Anurag Basu sets the record straight
In a recent interaction with India Today, the filmmaker clarified that Saiyaara had no role in the delay. He acknowledged that comparisons were natural since both films revolve around performers but emphasized that the stories are completely different.
He further explained that Kartik was occupied with Karan Johar’s film Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, while he himself was tied up with Metro… In Dino promotions. He assured that shoot will resume soon, with plans to complete the film at the earliest.
Only half the film remains
Earlier this month, Basu told News18 that only half of the film remains to be shot and that filming will resume very soon. He has already set a timeline to wrap up production within a month. While the project is yet to be officially titled, it is widely speculated to be Aashiqui 3.
First look teaser
In February 2025, the makers unveiled the first look of the yet-to-be-titled romantic musical. Shared by Kartik Aaryan, the video opened with a cheering crowd as he performed on stage, playing the guitar and singing Tu Meri Zindagi Hai. Sporting a brooding look with a heavy beard and long hair, Kartik embodied the intense lover. The teaser also offered glimpses of his chemistry with Sreeleela, hinting at a fresh and sizzling on-screen pairing.
