The actor reportedly passed away on January 31. Their statement translated to “The Academy extends its respectful and heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. His work and his unforgettable face will remain in the memory of our cinema.”The National Association of Actors also issued a statement, saying that they “deeply regret the passing of our colleague Gerardo Taracena. We join in mourning with his family, friends, and the artistic community. May he rest in peace.”

The famed actor was born in Mexico City in 1970 and continued his education as he pursued a degree in Dramatic arts in the University Center of Theater of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Over the course of his career, Taracena worked in a lot of film festivals, was a part of a dance group, and worked across various theatre plays and films.
