The Mexican Academy of Film Art and Sciences recently announced that the famed ‘Narcos’ actor had left for his heavenly abode. The cause of his demise has not been shared with the public. The actor reportedly passed away on January 31. Their statement translated to “The Academy extends its respectful and heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. His work and his unforgettable face will remain in the memory of our cinema.”The National Association of Actors also issued a statement, saying that they “deeply regret the passing of our colleague Gerardo Taracena. We join in mourning with his family, friends, and the artistic community. May he rest in peace.”

The famed actor was born in Mexico City in 1970 and continued his education as he pursued a degree in Dramatic arts in the University Center of Theater of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Over the course of his career, Taracena worked in a lot of film festivals, was a part of a dance group, and worked across various theatre plays and films. He was also nominated for the Ariel Awards three times, which is often known as the ‘Mexican Oscars.Some of his most famed works include ‘Queen of the South’, ‘Narcos: Mexico’, ‘The Violin’, ‘Apocalypto’, ‘Surviving My Quinceañera’, ‘Texas Rising’, ‘Diablero’, ‘Cafe Con Leche’, and ‘Saving Private Perez.’
