Former Miss World Yukta Mookhey says she admires ‘nothing’ about Priyanka Chopra, cryptically says she saw her as threat, competition: ‘Juhi was so gracious’ | Hindi Movie News

Yukta Mookhey won the Miss World crown in 1999 and the year after that, one saw Priyanka Chopra winning it in 2000. In a recent interview, Yukta was asked about her association with the other beauties who had won the pageant. She gave her honest opinion about actresses who inspired her and those who came after her.She was asked if there’s anything she admires about Priyanka Chopra. She said, “Nothing” very bluntly. She further added, “Because she is junior to me.” When asked if Priyanka took any guidance from her, she said, “I guided her on a few things, but I don’t think she’s the right person for you to ask me about at this moment.”In contrast, she spoke about Juhi Chawla who got the crown in 1984. She added, “Juhi was so gracious. Those are the people you look up to, who don’t see you as a rival and threat. She praised my appearance, told me I carried myself well, and encouraged me to go international. That’s true greatness—when someone older is willing to lift you up instead of viewing you as competition. She’s still has so much grace. She learnt dancing, learnt to act in movies. She never left her culture. She’s still so grounded and very strong in her value system.”She added, “I never had that thing of jealousy in me ever that I have to put someone down. I’m still friends with the girls who were with me in Miss World because I developed such genuine bonding. I never was into competition. At a personal leve, I never had negativity in me. Miss Venezuela came and told me that she really wanted me to win. I feel blessed and fortunate about it. We had that grace and maturity at that time, all of us girls.” Yukta was seen in very few movies after her pageant win. She was seen in films like ‘Pyaasa’, ‘Dil Main Jaanam’, ‘Katputtli’ among others.
