Dhanashree Verma and Yuzvendra Chahal are now officially DIVORCED confirms lawyer; Says, “No longer husband and wife” | Hindi Movie News

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma are now officially divorced, as confirmed by their lawyer to the media. He said, “The divorce has been done. Marriage is dissolved.” Apart from this, a close associate of the couple confirmed to Etimes, saying, “It is done, and the petition has been approved.”
The divorce was finalized at the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai on 20th March 2025. This came after the Bombay High Court decided to speed up the process by removing the usual six-month waiting period due to Chahal’s commitments to the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Advocate Nitin Kumar Gupta, representing Chahal, told ANI, “The court has granted the decree of divorce. The court has accepted the joint petition of both parties. The parties are no longer husband and wife.”
Chahal and Verma got married in December 2020 but had been living separately since June 2022. They filed for divorce in February 2025. According to Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act, there is usually a six-month waiting period before a divorce can be granted. However, since they had already been living apart for over two and a half years, and Chahal had to focus on his IPL matches, the court allowed them to skip this waiting period. The final hearing took place on 20th March, just days before the IPL season began on 23rd March.
Chahal was seen arriving at the Bandra Family Court for the hearing, wearing a hood and mask to avoid public attention. After the proceedings, he left the court without speaking to the media.
As part of the divorce settlement, reportedly, Chahal agreed to pay Dhanashree Verma a total alimony of Rs 4.75 crore. He has already paid Rs 2.37 crore, and the remaining amount will be paid after the official divorce decree. There were earlier reports suggesting that Dhanashree had demanded an alimony of Rs 60 crore, but her family denied these claims. They released a statement saying, “We are deeply outraged by the baseless claims being circulated about the alimony figure. Let me be absolutely clear—no such amount has ever been asked, demanded, or even offered. There is no truth to these rumors whatsoever.”
However, it is to be noted that no official or confirmed details of the alimony are known as of now.
