Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor seems to be on a roll at the box office.Fresh off the success of her newly-released rom-com ‘Param Sundari’ with Sidharth Malhotra, rumours are rife about the actress’ next big venture – ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsikumari’ with Varun Dhawan.

However, there’s also another film that has fans buzzing. This happens to be a remake. Interestingly, the film in question is the cult comedy ‘Chaalbaaz’ which starred the actress’ late mother Sridevi. According to a report on Bollywood Hungama, the actress is ‘extremely keen’ to star in the upcoming film, but is also ‘cautious’ as “‘Chaalbaaz’ isn’t just another film.” The actress reportedly doesn’t want to make it seem like she is cashing in on her mother’s legacy and is hence seeking advice about taking on this role.According to the report, Janhvi is expected to make her final decision by the end of September.

Sridevi’s ‘Chaalbaaz’ which hit theatres in 1989, is remembered for her effortless comic timing and her powerhouse double role as the mischievous Anju and Manju. Now, all eyes are on Janhvi to see if she will step up to take on the lead role in the film that became one of Sridevi’s most celebrated performances in Hindi cinema history.

When Janhvi said Chaalbaaz traumatised her

While speaking about the film in a previous conversation with the Hindustan Times, Janhvi revealed that she would have a hard time watching the film. Speaking candidly to the portal, she said, “I would honestly always have a hard time watching Chaalbaaz because they were very mean to her in the film. As a kid, I was very traumatised every time I tried to watch that film.”
