‘Border 2’ producer Bhushan Kumar defends Diljit Dosanjh’s casting in the film after the ‘Sardaarji 3’ controversy: ‘If because of trolls…’ |
‘Border 2’ has emerged a winner at the box office as the film has been doing exceptionally well. It crossed Rs 200 crore in the span of 5 days in India. The film headlined by Sunny Deol, along with Ahan Shetty, Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh was also in the news during its making as there was opposition regarding Diljit’s casting. It all started during the release of Diljit’s film ‘Sardaarji 3’ as he cast Pakistani actress Hania Aamir for the film and India had put a ban on Pakistani artists post the Pahalgam terror attacks. The Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) initially imposed a non-cooperation directive against Diljit. Now ‘Border 2’ producer Bhushan Kumar has come out in his defence and appreciated him. He said in an interview with Hindustan Times, “We were lucky to get all the actors on board. We had started the film, and then this pressure came. If, because of trolls, a company like us will start replacing people, then we shouldn’t make movies.” Director Anurag Singh also came out in support of Diljit, along with Bhushan. He said, “You watch him on the screen or watch his interviews. But you don’t know him personally, and what his beliefs are. So you assume something and say things. But he isn’t what you think he is.” Trolls had aggressively called for Diljit to be removed from two franchise projects he had signed, ‘Border 2’ and Anees Bazmee’s ‘No Entry Mein Entry’, the sequel to the 2005 blockbuster comedy ‘No Entry’. While Diljit eventually exited ‘No Entry Mein Entry’ due to scheduling issues, he continued with ‘Border 2’ and the film is now getting immense love from the audience.See More: ‘Border 2’ box office collection day 6 (LIVE): The Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty film breaks the January jinx, crosses Rs 200 crore India, slows down after Republic day
